Loddon Vale Landcare Group News

The Loddon Vale Landcare Group gathered at Durham Ox by the Serpentine Creek on the 25th of March, 2012. The site will be the future location of a fishing platform, a current project of the group that will open in September. The site is to be rented and managed by the group from the Crown.

Lawrie Maxted speaks to the Loddon Vale Landcare Group

Lawrie Maxted talked about the site, the popular use by the community and a recent visit by the Wycheproof Probus group. Averil Harris spoke about the fishing platform project in detail, including the agencies that have been contacted and the many collaborators that have been required on the project since it was floated 12 months ago. Those present discussed the construction and design of an information booth for the site. Anthony Gallacher, the new landcare facilitator for the Loddon Plains Landcare Network introduced himself and spoke about the network, his role and the community workshops planned for the beginning of May.

There is a great deal of enthusiasm in the community in response to the construction of the fishing platform. The group enjoyed lunch together and the surrounds of the Serpentine Creek.
